Process

How the Membership Process Works

Joining FMTA involves a few important steps. Please read carefully as online payment alone does not complete your membership.

01

Join TMTA and MTNA

If you are not already a member, join the Texas Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association at mtna.org. You can apply and pay dues for MTNA, TMTA, and FMTA online. Note that completing online payment does not finalize your FMTA membership.

02

Attend a Meeting

Attend at least one FMTA meeting as a visitor before submitting your application. This gives you a chance to meet our members and experience our community before officially joining.

03

Submit Your Application

Complete the FMTA membership application including your professional resume, two letters of recommendation, and confirmation of your TMTA and MTNA membership. Submit everything to the membership chair for review and approval by vote of the membership.
