Adhere to the proctor guidelines of Long Distance Testing. Pickup/Return the tests to the chairperson within the given timeframe.

    1. OPTION 1 (preferred): Send payments via Zelle to Forumactivities12@gmail.com. Add a message to the transfer with the memo “Fall theory enrollment for #__ students.”

    2. OPTION 2: Mail your registration check to the appropriate chair. Your payment must be postmarked no later than the deadline.

This twice-yearly event gives students the opportunity to measure their theory and musicianship aptitude. Additionally, passing grades enable students to participate in other TMTA events such as Piano Ensemble, SA Performance Contest, Composition Contest, Chamber Music, and World of Music. Scores of 90-93 receive a bronze medal, scores of 94-97 receive a silver medal, and scores of 98-101 receive a gold medal.

 

Enrollment Procedures:

    • Enroll your participating students as Student Affiliates 1 week before the theory registration deadline. Complete each student’s dashboard at TMTA website with parent’s email, as required by the State office. Contact the SA chair for more detailed infos or visit tmta.org.
    • After the SA enrollment and approval, request the online theory registration form from the Fall Theory chair.
    • Visit https://www.tmtorg for Student Affiliate activities for Theory test guidelines and information.
    • Carefully review the updated changes to the test content and syllabi, practice tests, testing guidelines, grading policies and procedures regarding out-of-state testers.
    • Submit the online registration form by emailing the chair. If the online form at our website https://forummusic.org/ is filled instead, please inform the chair. Calculate the fees and postage (optional). If postage is added, the graded tests will be mailed to you, otherwise the graded tests must be picked up in person.
    • Pay for the registration by check to the chair, or Zelle payment to FMTEF account : forumactivities12@gmail.com. Do not pay for SA fee to this account. When using Zelle, send the transfer receipt of the payment to the treasurer, Karen Wallace and the chair.
    • Make plans to work during the Fall theory test day according to FMTA Bylaws if your students participate in Fall Theory, or arrange for pick up and return the Spring tests from the Spring Theory chair if your students participate in Spring Theory.

    Awards

     

    • A student with a score of 90-101 is eligible for a medal. Student who tests at his/her school grade level will receive Gold, Silver or Bronze medal. Student who tests below the school grade level will receive Theory Achievement Medal (TAM).
    • All medals will be distributed together with the Spring Theory medal distribution.
    • Theory certificates and Division Certificates can be printed from the Theory page of TMTA website by participating teachers, or ordered from the TMTA Office using the Student Materials Order Form found on the Theory page of the website.
    • Senior Awards application can be found on the Student Recognition page on TMTA website. Teachers (not the chair/s) are responsible for submitting these applications by the deadline listed in TMTA Handbook.
